To celebrate the launch, we asked Sarina Godin, Chief Product Officer at True Botanicals and mom of three, to share her perspective on how motherhood has shaped her approach to product development, what went into creating Mindful Mama, and the role small rituals can play during pregnancy and postpartum.
As a mom of three and Chief Product Officer at True Botanicals, how has your own motherhood journey influenced the way you think about creating products for women during pregnancy and postpartum?
"There is so much information in the world and it can get very confusing when you're trying to find products that you can trust. And we're busy and often don't have time to do the level of research required to get to the truth. In my role, I want to simplify information and offer peace of mind to women on this journey. By using third-party validations like Sorette, we're holding ourselves accountable to experts and taking a rigorous look at the ingredients we formulate with during pregnancy and beyond."
How did partnering with Sorette help shape the development of the Mindful Mama Belly & Body Oil?
"It was extremely helpful to tap into the medical experts on Sorette's Scientific Advisory Board to understand what the skin needs during this critical time, and then look at how we could address those needs through nature's intelligence. It added a tremendous amount of value and credibility to work with a team solely focused on the pregnancy and postpartum journey."
When developing the Mindful Mama Belly & Body Oil, what were the non-negotiables for you?
"The most important thing was creating an experience that was easy and enjoyable to use while delivering the results women are looking for. We wanted an oil because the oils we use at True Botanicals are rich in fatty acids that help replenish the skin's lipid layer and support the skin barrier. We wanted it to absorb quickly, never feel greasy, and have a scent that felt beautiful during pregnancy. It was especially helpful that Lanning was pregnant during development—she played a big role in choosing the final scent."
The best products often become part of our daily routines. How did you think about creating something that feels like more than skincare, but a meaningful ritual for moms?
"At True Botanicals, all of our products are created with that in mind. Skincare and body care should feel like a ritualistic moment, never a chore. It should be something you look forward to at the beginning or end of the day. The texture, the way your skin looks after using it, the scent, the bottle—it all comes together to create that meaningful moment."
What do you hope women feel every time they reach for the Mindful Mama Belly & Body Oil?
"I hope they feel cared for. I hope they feel empowered. And I hope they have peace of mind knowing they're making a thoughtful choice with a product that has been rigorously vetted for use during pregnancy. When we become pregnant, we're making choices not only for ourselves, and I think that makes us even more thoughtful about the products we bring into our routines."
